The most common question we get before a first booking is how often a house really needs cleaning. There isn't one answer, because a retired couple in a tidy three-bedroom and a family of five with two dogs are not running the same house. But there is a useful way to think about it.
Weekly makes sense for busy households. If you have kids at home, pets that shed, someone with allergies, or a house where all the adults work full time, weekly is the interval that keeps things from ever getting away from you. Bathrooms and kitchens in a full house genuinely need attention every seven days, and floors in a home with pets do too.
Biweekly is the most popular choice, and for good reason. For a couple or a small family with moderate traffic, cleaning every two weeks holds the standard while costing meaningfully less over a year. It works best when someone in the house does light upkeep between visits — dishes, a quick wipe of the counters, a vacuum in the high-traffic path.
Monthly suits low-traffic homes. Empty nesters, single professionals who travel, or anyone who is naturally tidy can often go a month. Just be realistic: a monthly visit is a reset, not maintenance, and it takes longer than a weekly visit to the same house.
One-time deep cleans have their own place regardless of your schedule — before hosting a holiday, after an illness runs through the house, at the start of spring, before listing a home, or when a rental changes hands.
What belongs at each interval? Weekly or per visit: bathrooms fully cleaned and sanitized, kitchen counters and sinks, appliance exteriors, all floors vacuumed and mopped, surfaces dusted, trash out, beds made. Monthly or quarterly: baseboards, interior windows, ceiling fans, light fixtures, door frames, and vent covers. Twice a year: inside the oven and refrigerator, under and behind large appliances, closet interiors, and window tracks.
A word on cost, since it's the real question underneath the scheduling one. A house cleaned on a regular schedule takes less time per visit than one cleaned occasionally, because dirt hasn't had the chance to set in. The gap between a weekly and a biweekly plan is usually smaller per year than people expect.
The honest recommendation: start with biweekly. It's the interval most households settle on anyway, and after a month or two you'll know whether to tighten it up or stretch it out. We don't require contracts, so changing your mind costs you nothing.
